The BSSC (tongue in check for the humor impaired)
The purpose of the BSSC will be to advise Linden Lab about resident use of the Blake Sea. Unlike most linden water areas, the Blake Sea area is a cooperative effort between Linden Lab and the United Sailing Sims. The nine owners of the USS have appointed MarkTwain White as the Director of the USS and Director of the Blake Sea where he will be the principal interface between LL and the USS in regards to the Blake Sea. MarkTwain White has formed the Blake Sea Steering Committee to distribute the work of Blake Sea planning and administration to a wider group of sailors.
Recommendations of the BSSC will be submitted to the Director of the Blake Sea who will pass recommendations along to LL with comments. The BSSC will also act as the administrative body to direct such activities the committee and LL formulate.
The committee’s first task will be to replace the temporary Blake Sea EVENTS staff (19 race directors) with two new groups, RACE DIRECTORS (up to 40 positions) and LIAISONS (up to 15 positions).
The Steering Committee will nominate members to the role of RACE DIRECTOR in the Blake Sea Group. Such nominees need not be USS “residents”. They should be chosen for the purpose of holding races in the Blake Sea.
The Steering Committee will nominate members to the role of LIAISON in the Blake Sea Group. Such nominees need not be USS “residents” but must have a premium account. They should be chosen for the purpose of providing a broad time zone coverage for interfacing (with priority support) between LL on one hand and RACE DIRECTORS and the community on the other hand. LIAISONs will have enhanced access to LL support teams.
The Steering Committee will also advise LL on changes that need to be made in the Code of Conduct and changes that might be needed in the Blake Sea Sims to enhance its purpose to create a place for sailing for all SL residents.
The BSSC will nominate sailors for these two roles from throughout SL sailing.
