Bea, Editor of dotCOM
As part of the continuing evolution of slsailing.com’s editorial line, we are seeking to keep you informed with the latest news about Sailing with a capital S. Although dotCOM will remain focused on SL Sailing – our raison d’être - we will introduce more articles about RL / “real life sailing”, especially in dealing with major events. Obviously, we have neither interest nor the pretense to compete with publishing professionals in this field. Instead, we try to make you learn by working with them, and pointing you to their sites. The first contacts that we made in this direction are very encouraging! – We hope that this will allow some of you to see dotCOM as a gateway from SL Sailing to RL Sailing, and by the same token, to allow RL Sailing enthusiasts to discover the possibilities of SL Sailing.
I am particularly intrigued by the approach of the French Magazine “Course au Large,” which publishes
an English-language version of their entire magazine online, for free and with a very user-friendly interface. Having contacted them, I must say I have been very welcomed, and I hope to collaborate with them soon on various topics. As experts in the field, they complement me perfectly..
I wish you a very good reading of Ocean Racing Magazine, and check back regularly with us here at dotCOM, we won’t cease to amaze you .. ![]()
OceanRacing Magazine is the translation of the French magazine CourseAuLarge» “Course au large” is dedicated entirely to ocean racing in all its forms, focusing on those involved in the sport and the dreams they nourish. Frequency of publication: 6 editions per year, published every 2 months (end of January, March, May, July, September and November). Up until ten years ago, Course Au Large was the UNCL’s official magazine (UNCL in France is rather like the RORC in England). 2002 marked the relaunch of the magazine by the former Chief Editor who is a keen racer (50′ Open Monohull World Champion in 2002, 3 Vendée Globe races, including the 2004-05 edition) and a journalist (for Course Au Large, Seahorse Magazine…). He is indeed famous for being the first to get hold of the news and for being very precise in his comments. The OceanRacing digital magazine is brought to you free of charge, so don’t miss it!

Wow Bea! This is a great way to give our SL Sailing community a portal to the RL sailing world. This should be beneficial to all parties and certainly open new doors for conversation and collaboration. I can see this expanding to other prominent publishers worldwide and giving them the opportunity to peer into our virtual worldwide sailing community. Let me be the first to say thank you and great work!
Super! Nice going Bea. I’m gonna love this.
