This website has been launched to further the communication between, and development of, the sailing community in Second Life.  Second Life is a virtual world located at www.secondlife.com .

While it is not intended to replace the Second Life Sailing Association Forum, it does provide an additional means of communicating. Between the website features (which are designed to make more information more easily accessible) and the forum at slsailing.net (which provides a robust place for SL sailing discussions and a great place to list events) the SL sailing community now has an increased level of community service befitting its size and excellence in Second Life.

Great job Mark.
I discovered the pleasure of sailing on SL a few weeks ago, and I feel more and more addicted.
I would like to thank the SYC staff and all the sailors i met for their kindness and useful advices…
See you soon on the water.

Lovely site! I am a Sailors Cove/SLNE resident and today was the beginning of the Boat Show. It is positively inspiring to see the SL sailing community come together and show off their creativity and knowledge!

Do you think there would be any intereset in using SL as a platform for a group that could ask RL sailing questions about cruising and boat maintenance? Just a idea as I’ve done it for years, and enjoy the topic.

I would suggest you take a look at our forum at slsailing.org. You certainly could post a discussion starter in the GENERAL catagory on RL cruising. I bet we have some experieced skippers there that speak fluent cruising.

A good starting point for touring the mainland waterways would be to attend the Wednesday 6 PM cruises organized by Tory Micheline, who just founded the Mowry Bay Cruising Club as a splinter group of the MBYC.
Meeting point are the Mowry docks, destination is the great unknown ;)
