I know Lex Lian has covered this territory before, and I know I’ve mentioned D. Spitz’s Windlight images of sailboat races more than once in my own commentaries, but… WOW!
Run, don’t walk… Better yet, sail on over to D. Spitz’s SL Sailing images. They are pure inspiration.

Today’s quick quiz… how can you tell that image of Berjo is taken from Coral Sea sim?

i like windlight but worry that it may become overkill
there seems to be the world as it is now and then heightened reality - i want something in between
burning and dodging images does look great though
everyone will be doing that when it goes into the main viewer - i will start shooting videos in windlight at some stage but it is quite hungry system wise - have already shot some seems a longtime back in the americas cup - early windlight - usually for a time lapse effect on the sky which came out well - i think we need to have the windlight so it doesnt look like its windlight - and like most photographic magazines we are at risk of sunset overkill

Ahoy,
thank you all for this nice comments on my snappies, i realy love to hear that someone likes them.
SURF, i think you are totaly right, windlight will loose its “wow!”, be an allday event and we go back to work. Imho, will the actual classic-sl-client get in a special retro-flair-role.
SL is sometimes to nice. Sometimes we will need rain and storm or a dense fog.
Ok that may be no news, (hyper-)realism will be the way we walk. The command is “sails up and do it realism like, please”, we see this everywhere in sl - skins, hair, anims…. Love that or not - how ever - its just the way we all go or being pushed, no big way back.
But the interesting point is, “what next?” If i may start a wishlist, there will be right now 3 points:
- something like ‘depth of field’ (DoF), to focus on something and let the forth and back fall out of focus. ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3921 )
- waves, true waves. A meshed water or so. ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3920 )
- bad weather, of the sort where you are happy to be at home and have a hot cup of tea with a good friend
But ups, this isnt the windlight-snappies-thread.
So back to the movie.
Hope to see some more of this wonderful events on NYC, like this grandiose big-boat-races.
Thank you all
Ciao
D. Spitz
