Events and Articles of Note

Events in SL Sailing continue at a faster pace than Jane and I can keep up with sometimes.

The USS-SL has experienced explosive growth in the past month or so. Hot on the heels of the addition of eight racing sims from Svar Beckersted appearing in the heart of the USS racing area, the folks at Nantucket Yacht Club have added a new full service sim to the area. The sim is called Northport and you will be reading details on the new sim in the near future.

Additionally the folks up at SL New England have added 13 new sims. Although these sims do not have enough prims open in the water parcels for racing, they do have room for cruising. This now brings the total number of sims in the United Sailing Sims to 66.

Jacqueline has informed us that the new Tradewind square master launch will occur on  Sunday February 24 at Noon. Location: Trudeau Cay sim. As a matter of fact you can get an advance look at the vessel there. We have included a photo here of the Tradewind on a launch ramp. You won’t want to miss this as we understand that the boat will actually be launched from the ramp at the ceremony.

It’s appropriate that we publish this article on this date, as it is Nber’s fourth SL birthday today. Additionally the long anticipated next installment of Vin Mariani’s column, In Hot Pursuit covering part 2 of the Winds of SL article is now available. — MTW
