[Ed. Note]: This pre-column column is not written by Hans Zinnemann. But the editor/author did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. (Sorry for the inside joke that likely only a U.S.A. audience would get. Ask one of them over a beer). It is a holding column to give Hans a place to hang his URL call to this column which he has posted at his site.

Web sites, web sites, web sites. There are websites all around SL Sailing now. Of course our personal favorite is SLSailing.Com, but then we are prejudiced. The original Internet presence for events related to SL Sailing was, of course, the SLSF site which is dominated by the forum where the majority of discussions between SL sailors still takes place (albeit SLSailing.Com comments are an increasing factor in SL sailing discussions).

Some would like to characterize this web site as only about the United Sailing Sims of Second Life. Of course nothing could be further from the truth. Even a cursory examination of the articles on SLSailing.Com will reveal the wide range of locations, topics, and people we write about. And we are pleased that Hans Zinnemann will be bringing his own personal take on the Big Cat Cup races he runs in Sailor’s Cove under the title Cat o-nine Tales.

Click for larger viewBut don’t stop there, be sure to check out out Hans’ excellent web site here. Another very nice web site is slsailorscove.com which does a good job of covering activities for the good residents and skippers of Sailor’s Cove. I particular like some of the photography on the site.

These are particularly interesting days for SL sailing web sites because of what is about to come. Those of us that have been playing with the Release Candidate viewer 1.19.1.0 here have been playing with the web site on a prim feature (and the related movie on a prim feature). Very soon we will all be able to access our favorite sailing web sites from prims all over sailing venues in Second Life. Once fully implemented in SL, this feature is going to be awesome. We guarantee it. –MTW
