Big Boats Double Down

January 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Last Sunday’s Big-Boat races attacted another large crowd of majestic, classic ships to NYC’s Bismarck Sea Startline. The Southwestern United Sailing Sims are a great place to hold these races, given the large number of free prim reserved for sailing boats.

Unfortunately, as these races become more popular, the lag at the start line in Bismarck Sea increases as well.

Off To A Good Start

January 18th, 2008 · 3 Comments

This week Liv Leigh and Armchair Binder both posted comments emphasizing Start Line issues as part of racing strategy. I love watching the Sunday Big-Boat Races at NYC. From high above you get a truly remarkable view of the tall ships as they maneuver over the race course, jockeying back and forth for position. But that’s not really what I want to talk about today. I want to talk about something much more serious… The [...]

Big-Boat Race Results for October 21, 2007

October 22nd, 2007 · 2 Comments

Last evening, members of the big-boat race fleet converged once again on Bismark Sea to share stories, watch the sun set, and put their racing mettle to the test.
Three races were held, using what’s become a familiar theme: the B-1a race course with ‘standard’ NYC race wind (spd 11). If you think the standard B-1 [...]
