Blake Sea 2.0 Administration Protocols
Blake Sea 2.0 Administration Protocols (adopted October 1, 2009)
1. The USS Owners and Linden Lab will mutually agree upon a primary liaison between LL and the USS to function as the Captain of the Blake Sea. The Captain of the Blake Sea will work with the Blake Sea Steering Committee to a) act as the primary contact with Linden Lab, and b) provide assistance to the Steering Committee as needed; and c) provide assistance as needed to the Blake Sea Group members as needed.
2. A Blake Sea Steering Committee will be formed. The Committee will consist of two persons from each of the six actively racing yacht clubs based in the USS: (Starboards Yacht Club, Nantucket Yacht Club, Fishers Island Yacht Club, Waypoint Yacht Club, Les Glenans, and Schiffsratten Yacht Club). The clubs will designate a primary member and an alternate member. Any Steering Committee voting shall be by club, one vote per club. The commodore of each club will inform the Captain of the Blake Sea of the club’s chosen representatives to the Blake Sea Steering Committee.
3. The mission of the Steering Committee is simply to advise on, and provide guidance regarding administration of activities in the Blake Sea. The Steering Committee has no authority over the activities, design or arrangements of the privately owned USS estate properties but is encouraged to communicate with the USS owners to work together in a cooperative manner whenever possible.
4. The Steering Committee will present to LL via the Blake Sea Captain its recommendations on whatever topic is on the table. The Blake Sea Captain will forward all recommendations to LL with comment. LL has final discretion on recommendations. [Ed. update 3-27-10: Once the BSSC elects a chairperson, that person shall replace the Blake Sea Captain as the conduit of BSSC actions to LL.]
4a. The Steering Committee will nominate members to the role of RACE DIRECTOR in the Blake Sea Group. Such nominees need not be USS “residents”. They should be chosen for the purpose of holding races in the Blake Sea.
4b. The Steering Committee will nominate members to the role of LIAISON in the Blake Sea Group. Such nominees need not be USS “residents” but must have a premium account. They should be chosen for the purpose of providing a broad time zone coverage for interfacing (with priority support) between LL on one hand and RACE DIRECTORS and the community on the other hand.
4c. The Steering Committee will also advise LL on changes that need to be made in the Code of Conduct and changes that might be needed in the Blake Sea Sims to enhance its purpose to create a place for sailing for all SL residents.
